In the words of the legendary Soulection Dj, Joe Kay, “Music brought us here today”.
It is the year 2015 and yo’ girl has her SoundCloud app open 24/7, with nothing better to do with her time other than procrastinating and finding undiscovered works of art to entertain her little eardrums (I am actually lying, assignments should be better than procrastination). I have always valued my musical friend groups and anyone else putting me on to sensational music, but as of late my adoration for these humans has multiplied since I have little to no time whatsoever to actually partake in the enjoyable yet slightly lackluster process of listening to ten mediocre songs and finding one brilliant song, or even an EP.
Today, I am sharing four mixes that have (and still are) holding my hand, and getting me through this ungodly compilation of shambles called my life *inserts Braceface type theme song*. Finding these mixes brought about a sense of catharsis for me; I have danced to these mixes, I have cried to these mixes, I have spent countless nights drowning the voice in the back of my head out with these mixes (or rather attempted to). Each and every thing I share I have some or other emotional connection with, and deciding how much of my maudlin self I share is the tricky part (I usually have so much I want to say or share but can’t because emotional constipation, but I will figure that out at some point), so this post will be no longer than the last. In no specific order, here are four of my current favourite musical curations. 1) Tsukudu - SHE (a short story by tsukudu)2) Bambatha Jones - Mom, I Tried To Tell 'Em3) Nandi Jakuja - I met GOD, she's BLACK4) Sasha Marie - wine, sleepy eyes & turbulence
At the end of the week, I will make a little thread of other mixes I enjoy as well.
I hope even one of these bring you peace or joy (or both), you deserve it. Side note: Feel free to leave the names a few of your own favourite mixes in the comments. Endless love, Reneilwe xx Instagram | Twitter | Tumblr | Pinterest | SoundCloud | Facebook | Lookbook
